Alumna establishes scholarship fund to benefit women’s basketball, golf

A $100,000 planned gift establishing the Elaine Gazdeck Women’s Sports Empowerment Scholarship Endowment Fund will benefit women’s basketball and women’s golf. Gazdeck is a 1972 SIU Carbondale graduate.

Saluki teams hit the court, pool  

Hoops and swimming are in focus this week in Saluki athletics. The Saluki men’s basketball team hosts Northern Iowa at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, followed by Murray State at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Banterra Center. The Saluki men’s and women’s swimming teams close out their home schedule against Eastern Illinois at noon Saturday in the Recreation Center’s Shea Natatorium.
