SIU researchers discover incentivized game spurs activity in adults with disabilities

Ryan Redner, professor and director of the behavior analysis and therapy program in the School of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences, is among a group of researchers studying the effectiveness of a children’s exercise game with adults, particularly those with disabilities.


‘Decal-By-Mail’ available through June 27 

The Department of Public Safety Parking Division’s Decal-By-Mail payroll deduction program for eligible faculty and staff for 2025-2026 is available through Friday, June 27. Applicants must use payroll deduction. The salary range for decal categories has not changed. 


Saluki Pride: Susan Graham receives Staff Excellence Award

Susan Graham, senior director of development with the SIU Foundation for the College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences and the 2025 winner of the Administrative/Professional Staff Excellence Award, has been with SIU for 32 years and routinely goes far beyond in developing relationships with donors, families and students.


SIU Saluki basketball great Mike Glenn to speak at Morris Library 

Saluki basketball Hall of Famer Mike “Stinger” Glenn will give a free, public presentation at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 26, in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium as part of the community’s Freedom to Freedom celebration.


University conducts annual emergency exercises 

SIU Carbondale conducted its annual “active threat” training this month to assess and improve how various teams work together to respond to an emergency.


SIU to host Juneteenth event on July 1 

In recognition of Juneteenth, SIU’s Black Resource Center is hosting “Who’s Who at Southern Illinois University: Past, Present and Future,” a special campus and community event July 1 at the Student Center’s Old Main Room.


Testing Services to offer TOEFL, GRE exams 

SIU Carbondale Testing Services will offer TOEFL and GRE exams for students beginning this month in Morris Library, Room 781. 


SIU’s Virtual Partnership Conference facilitates partnerships to enhance recruiting

The Career Development Center’s third annual online partnership conference on Wednesday, June 25, is open to companies of all sizes, including SIU units and departments.


SIU Export Controls provides procedures for international travel 

The SIU Export Controls newsletter for June 2025 includes a reminder on procedures for international travel registration requirements.  


Reminder: University closed for Juneteenth 

The university will be closed on Thursday, June 19, to observe Juneteenth. Legislation signed in 2021 established Juneteenth as a federal holiday, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
