SIU research focuses on air traffic controllers’ mental health
Research by SIU Carbondale aviation and psychology faculty may shed added light on mental health concerns of the nation’s air traffic controllers as they face high-pressure working conditions and staffing shortages.
SIU Credit Union Trailhead to open at Touch of Nature
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 to 5 p.m. today (July 24) at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center’s SIU Credit Union Trailhead. Chancellor Austin Lane, SIU Foundation CEO Matt Kupec, Touch of Nature Director Brian Croft and representatives from SIU Credit Union will attend. The trailhead pavilion was made possible by a $500,000 donation from the credit union.
McNair Scholars symposium is Friday
McNair Scholars undergraduate students will showcase their outstanding research and scholarly achievements at the 22nd annual Summer Research Symposium on Friday, July 25, in Morris Library’s first-floor rotunda.
Reminder: Student Health Services hosts blood drive Tuesday
Student Health Services is hosting a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, July 29. The blood drive is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Health Center, Room 111. Online registration is available at redcrossblood.org and then entering SIUCStudentHealthCtr in the “make an appointment” section.
Economics alumna champions undergraduate research at SIU
An undergraduate research fund established by Saluki alumna and former Wall Street analyst Susan C. Thrasher supports students as they explore meaningful, faculty-mentored research projects across a wide range of disciplines. Five outstanding recipients of the 2024-25 award were celebrated for their contributions to biochemistry, studio art, neuroscience and more.
Saluki basketball hosts meet and greet today
Saluki Athletics is hosting its fifth annual Saluki Basketball Meet and Greet today (July 24) at Banterra Center. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with the program, featuring men’s basketball coach Scott Nagy and women’s basketball coach Kelly Bond-White and the players, starting at 5 p.m.
